June 15, 2021
The all-star collaborative album The Crickets And Their Buddies has now been made available to stream for the first time.
The 15-track LP of hits features Buddy Holly’s original backing band alongside an A-list cast of vocalists and instrumentalists including Eric Clapton, Rodney Crowell, Phil and Jason Everly, Nanci Griffith, Waylon Jennings – on one of his last studio recordings – as well as Albert Lee, Graham Nash, JD Souther and Bobby Vee. The tracklisting includes That’ll Be The Day, Rave On, Not Fade Away and I Fought The Law. Originally released in 2004 and produced by Grammy award winner Greg Ladanyi, it’s now making its debut on streaming platforms.
“We had the time of our lives while recording this album with all of our buddies,” explains Jerry Allison, original drummer and co-writer for The Crickets. “Every artist brought something really special to these songs while still staying true to the original lyrics and the music.”
“The Crickets And Their Buddiesis a testament to the incredible legacy of the band,” added Mike Jason, Senior Vice President, Live Entertainment at Time Life, which is behind the new streaming release. “It’s both rare and remarkable that artists from across so many genres embrace songs from a single band like they do on this album.”
